Competences
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • Analyze, discuss, interpret and present complex business problems and texts elaborately
  • Assess how big international corporations handle strategic and personnel issues
  • Comment on current developments in the world of business by using the appropriate register for written and oral assignments at the C1 level (according to the CEFR criteria)
  • Summarize content, evaluate problems and share informed opinions in presentations and class discussions

Course Goals This course is designed to help students

  • Analyze complex business information: discussing information, drawing conclusions, working out solutions and providing recommendations in oral and written form
  • Practice and improve speaking skills necessary to communicate successfully in business environments: reacting spontaneously and adequately to information presented, contributing and summarizing arguments, voicing criticism, presenting in formal and informal situations
  • Practice and improve writing skills necessary to communicate successfully in business environments: structure, clear line of argumentation, logical sequence, register, cohesion and coherence
  • Improve formal and informal presentation skills: focus on performance, free and spontaneous delivery, giving and receiving feedback

All of the above aim to consolidate and improve the students English skills at C1 level (according to the CEFR criteria)

Skills Knowledge
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to

  • Read business-related case studies and texts critically, summarize them coherently and efficiently and interpret them professionally
  • Present complex business contexts fluently and comprehensibly (in their own words)
  • Participate confidently in discussions about any business-related issues and share their informed opinions
  • Structure their written analyses clearly and logically, include and explain all the valid points utilizing appropriate C1 business vocabulary and provide elaborate solutions to the problems presented

All of the above aim to consolidate and improve the students’ English language skills at B2+ level (according to the CEFR criteria)

Upon completion of this course, students will demonstrate

  • The ability to analyze complex business cases (particularly in the field of strategic and personnel management) and present recommendations for the problems at hand in class discussions, written homework assignments and formal presentations
