Competences |
Students have in-depth knowledge of the legal framework conditions in the decision-making fields relevant to business informatics. They can solve simple legal questions and problems themselves. They have the ability to assess alternative technical and organizational solutions with regard to their legal implications and can implement legally compliant solutions in cooperation with legal experts.

LO1: Students have advanced knowledge of legal framework conditions in the decision-making fields relevant to business informatics:
Legal issues of IT application systems - copyright for software, open source, software patents, databases;
specific problems of web-based IT systems - domains, copyright of multimedia documents, download vs. streaming, e-mail and newsletter distribution;
Persons as IT objects - freedom of information vs. data protection;
Internet of Things - the importance of data in the value chain;
Platform economy and new digital business models and their anchoring in law - Applicable law, country of origin principle;
Digital means of payment - From Bitcoin to the digital euro?
Digital identity - cybersecurity and digital signatures;
Social media - Necessary, superfluous or dangerous? Facts vs fakes;
Artificial Intelligence - AI Act: a barrier to competition or a driver of innovation?
