Competences
Students are able to analyse and critically discuss advanced issues of social and cultural studies from a gender studies perspective. They are able to apply advanced concepts of gender studies nuancedly on issues of cultural studies and can analyse and critically evaluate social and cultural relations of power.

Skills Knowledge
  • Students are able to interpret and explain (k2) advanced approaches of cultural studies from a gender perspective as well as feminist media theories
  • They are able to apply these concepts to social and cultural issues in nuanced and differentiated ways (k3).
  • Students can produce an independent, advanced analysis of cultural artefacts (k4).
  • Students are able to examine (k4) and critically discuss (k5) cultural power relations in the light of feminist media theory.
Advanced feminist media theories as well as more complex aspects of social and cultural issues in gender Studies. Possible topics of the seminar are, for example, intersectionality, representations of gender diversity, currend developments in digital media and games as well as current interprtations of visual media. Course contents and topics are subject to change and will be announced each term.
Criteria for evaluation Attendance, active participation, submission of the required assessments.
