The aim is to provide an overview of the major political and economic issues in the major European countries and at the European level.
Skills Knowledge
The course promotes students' understanding of the political process and the economic opportunities associated with the European Union. Students acquire knowledge in the following areas:

  • Europe as a single market? – The economic dynamics of the European integration process
  • A social model of Europe? The Lisbon Strategy and the 2020 process
  • A Europe of citizens' rights? – The Charter of Fundamental Rights and the fight against discrimination
  • A European cultural and educational area? – Standardization (Bologna) vs. differentiation
