Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Critically evaluate the effects of different media on public perception and behavior
- Analyze media discourse and its societal implications across various (European) contexts
- Recognize the ethical, cultural, and political dimensions of digital and traditional media as well as new media technologies

- Interpret and apply media theory to real-world contexts and media content
- Articulate well-informed perspectives on media-related developments
- Conduct independent research and present critical analyses in both oral and written form
- Reflect on ethical challenges related to media use and influence

Students will demonstrate knowledge of:
- Foundational media effects theories and their relevance to today’s media environment
- The current state of the European media landscape
- The role of traditional and digital media as well as new media technology in society, including for example regulatory and ethical issues
