Learning Outcomes

  • LO1: The students know and understand the underlying theoretical concepts and principles of digitalization and the impacts evolving from it. They know how to apply methods to measure impacts and take measures to prevent negative impacts but also to support positive impacts. In addition, they know how to identify opportunities of digital technologies.
Criteria for evaluation This course is graded based on a written exam (50 %) and achievements from the exercise (Assessments are course attendance, home/group work, active participation). There are separate exams for parts 1 & 2 during the term; however, it is also possible to take the final exam (or retake exam), covering both parts. Each part is worth 25 points.

IMPORTANT: In case you fail in one of them, you have to do both parts in the final or retake exam.

The group work consists of

  • A case study (15 points)
  • A video you create based on the case study (10 points)
  • Written and oral feedback you give to other groups (5 points)
  • Conducting an impact assessment (5 points)
  • Critical reflection on the readings (5 points)

In addition, you may gain 10 bonus points in the lecture by actively participating, fulfilling some tasks or doing short multiple-choice tests in class. The bonus points are only added if you have reached a positive grade based on the mandatory part (i.e., you can improve your grade)

A positive grade requires 25 out of 50 points in the exam parts and 20 out of 40 points for the homework, 5 out of 10 points from the active participation in class.

Methods
  • Integrated in-class lecture and flipped classroom parts (lecture videos to be prepared), active participation and discussion is vital. Practical examples (cases) to further reflect on the material.
  • The course will be taught in an interactive way, based on discussion and case studies. It is required to actively engage in the topics, in particular, watching the videos before the according class (flipped classroom).
  • Attendance is compulsory.
