(*)The graduates will write their first research at the end of their Bachelor's program – as part of their Bachelor-thesis. This requires not only subject knowledge, but also self-mastery skills. The students are able to independently undertake and solve a research question / goal using scientific methods, and describe it in a comprehensive independent work (thesis). A chosen research question within one of the core subjects is thoroughly investigated, analysed and described.
Therefore, this course is designed to provide theoretical and methodological support to students developing and writing their Bachelor thesis. As such, it aims to provide a sustained period of independent study and research with mandatory interim presentations and supervision support. The course equips students with key research and writing skills and supports them in developing their Bachelor thesis based on detailed feedback from the course leaders. The Bachelor thesis follows the standard academic pattern of identifying a topic arising from a gap in the literature and developing a methodology to explore this area in depth. This course can be understood as a keystone course that draws together theory and research.

Beurteilungskriterien |
(*)The assessment focuses on oral presentations and the related documents (slides, commentary) reflecting different stages of the writing and research process, i.e. from crafting the focus of the thesis to the discussion of the main findings.
Units of assessments or combinations of those can include the following:
Presentation on
- The research topic and questions, including their practical relevance, research gap, literature review
- Theoretical underpinning, research model/hypotheses/propositions, proposed methodology
- (Empirical) results, discussion, theoretical and practical implications, outlook and limitations
To account for differences in research approaches across the three Competence Areas the number of presentations on the above-listed content can vary but all together count against 100% of the course mark.
Detailed information regarding the assessment strategy will be announced in the Seminar.
