Kompetenzen
(*)Students have comprehensive knowledge of the key components of continuous polymer processing technologies and can model/predict their main physical processes (melt flow, melt stretching, and cooling) using analytical methods. The knowledge and skills are achieved through interaction between lecture and exercise in "Polymer Extrusion and Compounding 1: Process Technologies”, where students work on a group project to design a particular polymer processing line. They have to holistically design and optimize a particular continuous polymer processing line. Given a minimum of boundary conditions and constraints, students have a large degree of freedom to find optimum solutions to this problem by employing analytical modeling techniques and taking reasonable assumptions and simplifications.
