Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students can classify, analyze and design optical sensors for biomedical applications particularly regarding their operating principle.
Skills Knowledge
Students are acquainted with the basic physical operation modes associated with different sensor principles for the detection of biomolecules. Students gain an understanding of the functionality and application of optical sensors in medicine and are able to select the sensor principles presented in an application-oriented manner and to deepen their specialist knowledge in further literature. (k5) Physical fundamentals of radiation sources, scattering on particles, wave optics, optical sensors for blood analysis, surface plasmon resonance-based sensors, sensors based on optical waveguides, biosensors based on photonic crystals, sensors based on particle scattering and fluorescence-based sensors.
