(*)Students will be able to understand, apply, and explain the basics in laboratory safety in order to prepare them for the upcoming practical courses covered in their bachelor study program.
Fertigkeiten Kenntnisse
(*)More specifically, upon completion of the course they will be able to • understand and explain the specific safety measures and percussions in a chemical laboratory and specifically in the TNF tower (k2, k3, k4) • understand and explain safety data sheets (k2, k3) • understand and explain the personal safety equipment and the safety equipment in a chemistry laboratory (k2, k3) • being able to operate a fire extinguisher (k3) (*)Underlying concepts and details of • general safety concepts • laboratory safety • safety equipment • emergency behavior (first aid, fire protection, escape routes, etc.) • where to get information on chemicals and their associated risks • disposal of chemicals • fire extinguishing
Beurteilungskriterien (*)Written examination.
Lehrmethoden (*)Lecture using PowerPoint presentation and Video material presenting correct behavior in chemical laboratories and risks. The presentation is in English and German in order to guarantee correct understanding of the contents. The presentation will be made available for download, secured by password.
