Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to gain a solid knowledge in materials technology, and understand the most important mechanical engineering materials to an extent necessary to competently select, treat, and process such materials and to attend advanced courses in material science.
Skills Knowledge
- Students are able to understand and rate physical and mechanical properties of engineering materials (K1) - Students are able to compare mechanical properties of different materials (K2) - Students are able to decide which production routine is suitable to achive specific material properties (K3) - Students are able to rate material damage and fracture (K4) - Structure of metallic materials (structure on atomic and grain levels) - Phase transitions and thermal treatment - Mechanical properties (elasticity, plasticity, fracture) - Material testing - Structure of polymer materials, thermal processing of polymer materials - Ceramic materials and glasses - Damage - Sustainability
