Students enhance their professional and interpersonal competencies essential for success in academic and scientific environments. Through participation in a variety of soft skills courses, they become better equipped to communicate scientific work effectively, manage research projects, and engage ethically and inclusively in collaborative settings.

This course equips students with essential transferable skills for a successful academic and professional career in the life sciences. Participants develop practical competencies in scientific writing, effective project planning, and delivering professional presentations.
Key topics include gender and diversity awareness, the influence of sex on physiological functions and disease progression, and ethical standards in research. Students are introduced to the principles of good scientific practice as well as frameworks for intellectual property and patent protection.
Through team-building activities and communication workshops, participants strengthen their collaboration, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills. Optional German language training is offered to support integration and inclusivity in international research environments.

Academic writing strategies and structure; principles of project and time management; fundamentals of intellectual property and patent law; ethical guidelines in science and research integrity; communication and presentation techniques; open science principles and data sharing; basic German language; and diversity and inclusion frameworks in research environments.

Criteria for evaluation |
Successful completion of individual modules (1 - 2 ETCS per course, max 5 ETCS): Academic Writing, Project Management, Intellectual Property and Patent Rights, Ethics in Science and Good Scientific Practice, Team Building, Presentation Skills, Open Data, German Language Courses, Gender and Diversity
