Competences
Students enhance their ability to critically read, interpret, and evaluate primary scientific literature relevant to their research. They improve their communication and discussion skills in a peer group setting and gain confidence in presenting scientific content.
Skills Knowledge
Students develop the ability to summarize and critically assess scientific publications. They practice leading structured discussions, responding to scientific questions, and drawing connections between current research and their own PhD projects. Additionally, they gain experience in preparing effective scientific presentations. Current literature and methodologies in biophysics, membrane biology, or related fields, with a focus on recent advances relevant to the students’ research areas.
Criteria for evaluation Active participation in discussions and the quality of at least one article presentation during the semester.
Methods Student-led journal club sessions with peer discussion and feedback; preparation for invited speaker seminars.
