Learning Outcomes
Competences
Understanding basic physics of biological molecules.
Skills Knowledge
Students develop the ability to understand basic concepts of theoretical physics that are necessary to model biological macromolecules such as proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and carbohydrates and their behavior, properties, and chemical reactions in vitro and in vivo. The goal is to prepare the students for the more specialized lectures in “Theoretical Biophysics I and II” and the computer courses “Modeling of Biological Macromolecules I and II”. Classical and quantum mechanics, electrostatics, thermodynamics, and statistics.
Criteria for evaluation Oral or written examination.
