Competences
The students gain fundamental understanding of the principles of current superresolution techniques and their applications and limitations for fixed and living cells/tissues. Students will learn the basics for image acquisition with hands-on experience using STED microscopy. Troubleshooting microscopic applications is another focus of this course.

Understanding the possibilities and limitations of superresolution microscopy with a focus on STED
Troubleshooting image acquisition based on microscope settings and biological sample choice.
Optimizing image quality at the microscope.
Principles and applications of superresolution/STED microscopy in fixed and living tissue samples.
Fundamentals of image acquisition and optimization.
Criteria for evaluation
Attendance of at least 75 %.
Active participation: Students will receive hand-on training at the STED microscope based on their own samples. Results will be presented and discussed in the group.
