Competences
The students gain fundamental understanding of the principles of confocal microscopy and its many applications for fixed and living cells/tissues.
Students will learn the basics for image acquisition with hands-on experience at the confocal microscope.
Students are able to troubleshoot confocal applications.

Understanding the possibilities and limitations of confocal microscopy
Troubleshooting image acquisition based on confocal settings and biological sample choice.
Optimizing image quality at the microscope.
Principles and applications of confocal microscopy in fixed and living tissue samples.
Fundamentals of image acquisition and optimization.
Criteria for evaluation
Attendance of at least 75 %.
Active participation: Students will receive hand-on training at the confocal microscope based on their own samples. Results will be presented and discussed in the group.
