Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students acquire theoretical and experimental skills necessary for whole cell patch clamp recordings to measure activities of native ion channel complexes.
Skills
Knowledge
Preparing precise intracellular and extracellular electrophysiology solutions
Conducting whole-cell patch clamp recording in cell lines and primary cells
Analyzing and interpreting the obtained results
Identification of different protocols for distinct ion channels
Trouble shooting and optimization of protocols.
Basic understanding of cell physiology and ionic signaling.
Principles of electrophysiologic recordings.
Knowledge of distinct electrophysiologic methods and their application.
Criteria for evaluation
Attendance of at least 75 %.
Active participation during the course. Teachers will judge on students´ learning behavior and experimental results to give evaluation.
Methods
Introduction and supervision of experimental skills in the electrophysiology lab
Language
English
