(*)Upon successful completion of the course, students are able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of numerical algorithms and methods to analytically and numerically solve problems of theoretical physics, covering the areas listed below. They can describe limitations and advantages of approximation and perturbation theories. They are able to use computer algebra systems to investigate complex physical models.

(*)Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to
- explain and summarize key models used to numerically simulate dynamical systems (k1/k2);
- operate and implement physical models in computer algebra systems (k4);
- validate and critically discuss the range of validity of different approximations used in numerical simulations (k5).

(*)During the course, students acquire knowledge about numerical simulations, concerning the topics listed below:
- computer algebra systems;
- solving transcendental equations;
- special functions of mathematical physics;
- convergence tests and error measures;
- three-dimensional data visualization;
- parallel programming.

Lehrmethoden |
(*)The course primarily consists of lectures on fundamental and current topics in theoretical physics in connection to numerical algorithms and symbolic computer algebra, complemented by presentations of projects applying the methods to recent scientific literature.
