Learning Outcomes
Competences
•Students can find, analyze and evaluate relevant scientific literature and use this together with fundamental knowledge to carry out and document analyses of electrical drive systems in a focused and independent manner.
Skills Knowledge
Students • know and understand ways of analyzing electrical drive systems in general and with regard to special properties. (K1, K2) • apply suitable methods and know the advantages and limitations of analytical, numerical and experimental methods. (K3) • can find, evaluate and use current literature in order to incorporate new research results into their analysis. (K4, K5) • can correctly analyze the effects of electromagnetic properties, material properties and the performance-determining parameters derived from them. (K4) • learn and understand how to isolate significant parameters and analyze their effect in the simulation. (K4) • can independently apply the methods of analysis on the given example of a solenoid. (K5) • Methodology of the literature research • Methodology of literature analysis and evaluation • Structure of scientific publications • Basic equations and characteristics of electromagnetic drives and actuators, especially solenoids • Analytical methods for drive analysis • Numerical finite element methods • Numerical simulation of dynamic electromagnetic systems
Criteria for evaluation Constructive participation in discussions in the course units, collaboration, presentations and final paper
Methods Implementation of elements of the inverted classroom method. Students work on their own assignments during the semester. In the course, the basics are presented, content is deepened and questions are answered.
