Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to acquire fundamental knowledge about component testing methods, different types of sensors, and measurement chains, and apply them in practice. They learn to set up a component test for a given component, prepare the samples, conduct the tests in the laboratory, and evaluate the results in the form of a measurement report.
Skills Knowledge
Understand and explain different methods of component testing [k1].

Know the properties and functions of various sensors and measurement chains [k2].

Plan and conduct a mechanical component test [k3].

Prepare test samples and independently conduct measurements in the laboratory [k4].

Analyze the test results and present them in a measurement report [k5].

Work as a team and solve complex tasks together [k6].

Fundamentals of Component Testing: The necessity and importance of tests before market release.

Methods of Component Testing: Tensile tests, compression tests, bending tests, and other mechanical testing procedures.

Measurement Technology: Types of sensors, measurement chains, data recording, and processing.

Planning and Conducting Component Tests: Sample preparation, test execution, data collection.

Analysis and Evaluation of Test Results: Data analysis, creation of measurement reports, interpretation of results.

Criteria for evaluation Test of the theoretical knowledge in a written exam Completion of the practical work Evaluation of the quality of the measurement report
Methods There is a introduction lecture about component testing and measurement techniques. In a flipped classroom approach the students will prepare selected topics in a short presentation to each other. The component tests are prepared and conducted in teamwork.
Language English
Study material The necessary materials are provided as Powerpoint slides and a presentation.
Changing subject? No
Further information The theoretical part of this course will provide you with a fundamental knowledge of component testing methods, different types of transducers, and measurement chains. In the practical part, you will set up a component test for a given component. You will prepare the specimens, test them yourself in the laboratory and evaluate the results in the form of a measurement report.
