Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the methods and principles of lightweight design in connection with conducting experiments. They are able to set up experimental test rigs, perform experiments, and use the measured data to determine material, strength, stiffness, and structural parameters typical for lightweight design.

- organize themselves into working groups (K3)
- independently gather information on relevant lightweight design topics (K3)
- justify the use of typical load tests for lightweight structure design (K2)
- produce and prepare the required test specimens (K6)
- carry out material and stability tests, evaluate and assess measurement data (k3, k4, k5),
- identify relevant information and present it in a structured and comprehensible manner (k6),
- prepare complete technical documentation (k6).

- Implementation structural-mechanical laboratory tests and their technical evaluation
- Load tests on simple components to determine material strength parameters (tensile test, Wöhler test, specimen preparation, data evaluation)
- Use of measuring systems (load cell, digital image correlation)
- Assessment of component failure in relation to lightweight design (crack propagation and residual strength tests, buckling tests)
- Structure and content of technical documentation (description of a test setup, recording of results)
