Competences
Students are aware of and have an overview to assistive technologies and their requirements at the HCI in the design and implementation process. Students are able to implement assistive functionalities and tools for HCI based interaction using state of the art digital technology.
Skills Knowledge
  • Assess the requirements of different groups of users with disabilities and the aging population (K4)
  • Explain and argue the potential and the importance of assistive technology (K2)
  • Plan and implement assistive functionalities and tools for selected target groups (K3, K6))
  • Analyse and evaluate the potential and impact of implemented solutions (K4, K5)
  • Applying user-centred and inclusive design and development in the engineering process (K3, K6)
Knowledge:

  • Potential and importance of digital technology for diversity of users including people with disabilities and the aging population
  • Skills and related requirements of people with disabilities and the aging population
  • Important assistive technologies for different target groups
  • Relation of assistive technologies to rehabilitation and rehabilitation engineering
  • User-centred design and inclusive design principle, methods techniques and tools
  • Future and upcoming trends and developments in assistive technologies
Criteria for evaluation Participation, contribution, exam (50%) and quality of practical examples (50%)
