(*)Upon successful completion of the laboratory course, students are able to design and conduct experiments in the area of surface and nanoanalytical techniques. They can perform these experiments with moderate supervision and some hands-on support. They can critically analyze and interpret their findings. This course will equip students with the necessary competencies for carrying out their MSc thesis project at ZONA.

(*)Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to
- develop and discuss experimental hypotheses in the area of surface and nanoanalytics and design the experiments (preferably in English) (k5/k6);
- extract the underlying physics of the chosen experiments from textbooks and the scientific literature (in English) (k4);
- set up and perform the experiment in the lab under supervision and with hands-on support (k6);
- interpret the experimental findings (k4/k5);
- present their results in a structured manner, focusing on the essential content (k5/k6);
- actively participate in scientific and other discussions (k4/k5).

(*)During the course, students gain in depth knowledge about current research topics and methods in the field of surface analysis and nanoanalytics. Students select two specific experimental topics by consulting with the seminar lecturer and their potential MSc thesis supervisor.

Lehrmethoden |
(*)Students will perform two experiments, each one with a duration of approximately one week. Typically, they advance to an experimental MSc thesis in one of the two topics.
