(*)Upon successful completion of the seminar, students are able to critically analyze and summarize recent research in the area of solid state physics. They are able to clearly present complex scientific ideas with respect to their own research, engage in discussions and take into account constructive critiques.

(*)Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to

  • critically analyze recent own results in the area of solid state physics (k4);
  • summarize complex research findings and methodologies (k4);
  • present scientific results clearly and effectively to a peer audience (k4/k5);
  • engage in and lead scientific discussions (k5/k6);
  • provide and take into account constructive critiques and feedback on current research (k5/k6);
  • develop awareness of contemporary advancements and open questions in the field of solid state physics (k6).
(*)During the course, students will gain knowledge of current research topics and methods in the field of solid state physics. The seminar topics are aligned with the broader scientific context of the MSc and PhD thesis projects of the participants. Students will choose their own presentation topics in consultation with the supervisor.
Beurteilungskriterien (*)Evaluation will include the content and presentation of the talk as well as active engagement in the discussions.
Lehrmethoden (*)Seminar talks followed by extensive discussions to encourage active participation as well as a deeper understanding of the topics.
