Learning Outcomes
Competences
Upon successful completion of the seminar, students will be able to critically analyze and summarize selected research papers in the area of soft matter physics. They will present complex scientific ideas from these papers clearly, engage in discussions, adding their insights to the group’s understanding of current literature. This course will equip students with the necessary competencies for carrying out their MSc thesis project in the Division of Soft Matter Physics.
Skills Knowledge
Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to

  • analyze and summarize key findings from the latest research in soft matter physics (k4);
  • present research clearly to peers and effectively lead discussions (k5);
  • offer constructive feedback on research presentations and papers (k5/k6).
During the course, students will deepen their understanding of recent research in soft matter physics by selecting, presenting and discussing newly published papers connected to their thesis work. The selection of papers will be made in consultation with the supervisor.
Criteria for evaluation quality and depth of analysis in the presentation; active and constructive participation in the scientific discussions following the presentations
Methods In seminar sessions, students present research papers about soft matter physics. After each presentation, the group will discuss the paper, allowing everyone to share their thoughts and learn from each other.
