Competences
Upon successful completion of the seminar, students are able to critically analyze and summarize recent research papers in the area of biomolecular and selforganizing matter. They are able to present complex scientific ideas clearly, engage in discussions and provide constructive critiques of current literature.
Skills Knowledge
Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to

  • critically analyze recent scientific literature in the wider area of biological physics and soft matter (k4);
  • summarize complex research findings and methodologies (k4);
  • present scientific papers clearly and effectively to a peer audience (k4/k5);
  • engage in and lead scientific discussions (k5/k6);
  • provide constructive critiques and feedback on current research (k5/k6);
  • develop awareness of contemporary advancements and open questions in the field of biomolecular and selforganizing matter (k6).
During the course, students will gain knowledge of current research topics and methods in the field of biomolecular and selforganizing matter. The seminar topics are aligned with the broader scientific context of the MSc and PhD thesis projects of the participants. Students will choose their own presentation topics in consultation with the supervisor.
Criteria for evaluation Evaluation will include the content and presentation of the talk as well as active engagement in the discussions.
Methods Seminar talks will be followed by extensive discussions to encourage active participation as well as a deeper understanding of the topics.
