Learning Outcomes
Competences
Upon successful completion of the course, students are able to integrate and apply advanced knowledge in the broader area of theoretical physics and to critically assess the validity of theoretical models. Students demonstrate the ability to evaluate complex scientific information and to synthesize insights from current research. They are able to evaluate the predictive power of theoretical models by comparison with experimental results from the scientific literature.
Skills Knowledge
Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to

  • explain and summarize advanced theoretical models (k2/k3);
  • apply the models to specific systems and derive approximate solutions for observables (k4);
  • evaluate the predictive power of the model by comparison with experimental data (k5).
During the course, students will acquire knowledge about specific and recent topics in the broader area of theoretical physics. The actual topic of the lecture is announced each semester in the KUSSS system or can be requested from the person responsible for the lecture.
Criteria for evaluation Evaluation criteria will be announced at the beginning of the semester.
Methods The course consists of lectures, including applications of theoretical models to specific systems.
