Learning Outcomes
Competences
Upon successful completion of the course, students are able to integrate and apply advanced knowledge in the broader area of semiconductor and quantum physics, including theoretical and experimental methods as well as special applications. They demonstrate the ability to understand and evaluate complex scientific information and to synthesize insights from current research.
Skills Knowledge
Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to

  • explain and summarize specific topics within the broader area of semiconductor and quantum physics, demonstrating a clear understanding of key concepts and recent developments (k2);
  • explain and evaluate experimental or theoretical approaches within the broader area of semiconductor and quantum physics (k2/k3);
  • critically engage with current research topics and assess recent developments in the field, connecting them to broader scientific questions and challenges (k4/k5);
  • assess the relevance of semiconductor and quantum physics to emerging technologies and applications, providing critical insights into its potential impacts (k5).
During the course, students will acquire knowledge about specific and recent topics in the broader area of semiconductor and quantum physics. The actual topic of the lecture is announced each semester in the KUSSS system or can be requested from the person responsible for the lecture.
Criteria for evaluation Evaluation criteria (written and/or oral exam) will be announced at the beginning of the semester.
Methods The course primarily consists of lectures on current topics in semiconductor and quantum physics, possibly complemented by presentations of the students on recent research articles.
