| (*)Upon successful completion of the experiment, students are familiar with characteristic experimental methods and instrumentation used for the investigation of the interaction of light and matter. They are able to design and carry out experiments, analyze results and critically evaluate findings within the context of the current scientific literature.

(*)Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to
- plan experiments aimed at investigating the interaction of light and matter (k2/k3);
- prepare material samples, light sources and detectors for investigating the interaction of light and matter (k3);
- perform a sequence of experiments with state-of-the-art instrumentation used in current research projects in the Division of Light-Matter Interaction (k3);
- analyze and summarize the obtained results in a report (k4/k5);
- critically discuss the results, also in the context of the scientific literature (k5).

(*)During the course, students will acquire practical knowledge in the experimental characterization of the interaction of light and matter on the nanoscale or the macroscale. These can include the interaction of light with thin films, nanostructures, nanoparticles and bulk materials.

| Beurteilungskriterien |
(*)A combined grade will be determined, based on the preparation and execution of the experiment, the written protocol and the debriefing meeting with the supervisor, during which the results will be discussed.
|

(*)Students will conduct experiments in groups of two.
