Kompetenzen
(*)Upon successful completion of the practical course, students are able to describe the typical experimental methods and instrumentation used in magnetometry. They can design and carry out magnetometry experiments, analyze their results and critically evaluate the findings within the context of the current scientific literature.

This practical course is methodologically complemented by the lecture Magnetometry.

Fertigkeiten Kenntnisse
(*)Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to

  • plan a sequence of experiments aimed at the characterization of samples of magnetic matter (k2/k3);
  • perform a sequence of experiments with state-of-the-art magnetometric instrumentation used in current research projects in the Division of Solid State Physics (k3);
  • analyze, interpret and summarize the obtained results in a report (k4/k5);
  • critically discuss the results, also in the context of the scientific literature (k5).
(*)During the course, students will acquire knowledge about selected methods used for the experimental characterization of magnetic samples.
Beurteilungskriterien (*)A combined grade will be determined, based on the preparation and execution of the experiment, the written protocol and the debriefing meeting with the supervisor, during which the results will be discussed.
Lehrmethoden (*)Students will conduct experiments in groups of (typically) two.
