Kompetenzen
(*)This lecture delivers an introduction into the field of functional polymers and gives an overview of their typical applications. Students gain insights in modern methods for designing, synthesizing and characterizing such functional materials.
Fertigkeiten Kenntnisse
(*)After completion of the course, students will be able to • understand the general concepts of functional polymers [k1, k2]. • know and understand the synthetic approaches of producing functional polymers [k1, k2]. • know and understand exemplary formats of functional polymers and their characteristics [k1, k2, k4, k5]. • know and understand the applicabilities of functional polymers [k1, k2, k3, k5]. (*)• Functional Polymers: Introduction. • Controlled Radical Polymerization: Fundamentals of Controlled/living Radical Polymerization (CRP), Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP), Nitroxide-Mediated Polymerization (NMP), Reversible/Addition Fragmentation Chain Transfer polymerization (RAFT) and Nanostructured functional materials. • Click Chemistry: General remarks, thiol-ene and thiol-yne click chemistry, copper-catalyzed ‘click’ chemistry for surface engineering, Diels–Alder cycloaddition and multifunctional network polymers, copper-free click chemistry, nanomaterials and click chemistry. • Functional and Reactive Polyolefins: Preparation of functional polyolefins and applications. • Functional polymers for interesting applications: Functional polymers as chemical sensors and biomedical tools.
