Kompetenzen
(*)The students acquire the competence to understand different membrane processes. They are able to select and analyze processes and select the required membrane process. They know the physical and chemical principles behind membrane separation.
Fertigkeiten Kenntnisse
(*)The students know and understand the fundamental concepts of membrane technology, including the types of membranes, membrane processes (e.g., microfiltration, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis), and their applications in various industries (k1 & k2). The students can apply the principles of membrane separation to design and interpret process flow diagrams, such as selecting appropriate membranes and processes for given separation tasks based on feed properties and desired outcomes (k3). The students can analyze the performance of membrane systems, including identifying and evaluating factors like fouling, scaling, energy consumption, and separation efficiency. They are also able to troubleshoot operational issues (k4). The students know how to optimize membrane process parameters (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow rates) and evaluate the suitability of membrane materials and configurations. They can also select appropriate system layouts and positions for membranes in complex systems to ensure optimal performance (k5). The students can integrate membrane processes into larger industrial systems, considering aspects like hybrid separation processes and sustainability. They can propose innovative solutions to enhance membrane performance and reduce environmental impact (k6).
