Students will be able to learn, understand and review the specific synthesis and characterization techniques offered by the institute on the basis of a dedicated project.

More specifically, upon completion of the course, they will be able to: • Carry out, analyze and critically review synthesis and characterization protocols run at the institute. (k3, k4, k5, k6) • Synthesize, purify and isolate the targeted compound using established methods. (k3, k4, k5, k6) • Characterize and analyze afforded products by state-of-the-art analytical techniques. (k3, k4, k5, k6) • Document their work in a protocol in a scientific writing style. (k4, k5) The course is divided into three consecutive sections devoted to the following experimental manipulations and industrially-relevant products:

Preparation, separation, purification, characterization, and application-related testing of chemicals and polymers.
