Master's programme Chemistry and Chemical Technology (CCT) 2025W
Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students will gain an in-depth understanding of physical chemistry and will become able to understand details of molecular bonding calculations of quantum mechanics, different types of mathematical approaches for chemical bonding and resulting spectroscopic evidence. Also, symmetry theory using matrices is an essential part of the course.
Skills
Knowledge
The students should hold the following skills upon completing this course:
• Solve the Schrödinger equation in a 3-dimensional system and apply the resulting wavefunctions. (k3)
• Understand the quantum mechanical description of molecular. (k3-k5)
• Understand the spectroscopical results with the underlying physical/chemical principles and apply this understanding to real experiments. (k3)
• Symmetry operations and matrix notation for molecules. (k4)
• Quantum mechanical description of molecular bonding
• Spectroscopy and quantum mechanical calculations
• Symmetry of molecules
