Competences
Students should be able to discuss and critically evaluate a current topic from the research area of biophysical chemistry. They will be able to write a biophysical chemistry related scientific paper, prepare and hold a scientific presentation, and create a scientific poster with advanced data visualizations. Students acquire the skills to critically evaluate the state of the art in the field of research, combine complex information and position the work in the global scientific environment.

More specifically, upon completion of the course, they will be able to: • Understand and apply the basic principles of modern communication. (k1, k2) • Understand the building blocks of scientific documents (e.g., papers, thesis) and write scientific papers themselves. (k2, k3) • Understand the elements of modern scientific presentations and hold a scientific talk. (k2, k3, k4) This course is designed to provide underlying concepts and details of: • Communication and feedback • Importance and ethical principles of scientific publications • Journal and scientist ranking methods • Components and content of scientific papers • Components and content of scientific presentations • Slide design, effective presentation, and personal appearance
