Detailed information |
Pre-requisites |
Admission to the master curriculum Biological Chemistry ( positive completion of the PR "Organic chemistry laboratory bridge course" if this has been stipulated or is part of the curriculum variant)
|
Original study plan |
Master's programme Biological Chemistry 2025W |
Learning Outcomes |
Competences |
Students will be able to independently plan and perform syntheses and characterizations of organic compounds.
|
|
Skills |
Knowledge |
More specifically, upon completion of the course they will be able to
- carry out more advanced synthesis procedures following reported literature procedures (k3, k6)
- evaluate the basic safety relevant aspects of organic synthesis procedures (k5)
- carry out lab procedures to purify and isolate organic molecules (k3, k4)
- characterize and analyze organic molecules by spectroscopic means, i.e. NMR spectroscopy (k3, k4, k5)
- document their laboratory work in protocol books (k4)
|
B- Independent synthesis of organic compounds using modern synthesis methods.
- Planning of a synthesis strategy for more advanced organic target molecules.
- Characterization of the synthesized compounds by state-of-the-art organic analysis methods.
