(*)More specifically, upon completion of the course they will be able to
- understand and explain the underlying mechanisms of transformations of aromatic compounds, rearrangement reactions, pericyclic reactions, radical reactions, and fundamental transition metal-catalyzed process (k2, k3, k4)
- predict, explain, and describe the outcome of reactions belonging to these mechanistic regimes (k3, k6)
- will understand the differences in reactivities of different functional groups under various reaction conditions (k2, k4, k5)
- carry out basic retrosynthetic analyses of small molecule targets and plan syntheses thereof (k4, k5)

(*)Underlying concepts and mechanistic details of
- aromatic substitution reactions
- radical reactions
- rearrangements and pericyclic reactions
- transition metal catalyzed reactions
- retrosynthetic analysis
