Learning Outcomes
Competences
After successfully completing the course, students are able to independently study a selected topic in theoretical physics and present it to the group. They have the ability to focus on key content and present it in a clear and structured manner. They are to answer scientific questions related to their presentation and formulate targeted questions about the presentations of others.
Skills Knowledge
Upon completing the course, students learn the following skills. They are able to

  • familiarize themselves with a modern field of theoretical physics with the help of the scientific literature (k4);
  • plan and prepare a presentation in English (k6);
  • present the topic clearly using modern presentation methods (k5/k6);
  • actively participate in scientific discussions following their own presentation (and the presentations of other students) (k4/k5).
During the course, students acquire knowledge in a modern field of theoretical physics. Possible topics are based on the research areas of the Institute of Theoretical Physics (Many Particle Systems, Quantum Dynamics and Classical Dynamics, Theoretical Biophysics). Students choose a topic from a range of suggestions in consultation with the seminar instructors.
