Learning Outcomes
Competences
Upon successful completion of the course, students are able to familiarize themselves with the scientific literature (in German or English) in a largely independent manner and comprehend it. They have prepared their own presentation and delivered it to the group, whereby they have developed a confident presentation style and acquired the ability to present essential content in a structured manner. They can answer scientific questions about their presentation and formulate specific questions about the presentations of others.

Upon completing the course, students learn the following skills. They are able to

  • understand and critically evaluate scientific literature (k4/k5);
  • plan and prepare a presentation in English (k6);
  • present the topic clearly using modern presentation methods (k5/k6);
  • actively participate in academic discussions following their own presentation (and the presentations of other students) (k4/k5).
Students acquire knowledge of current research topics and methods in the field of surface- and nanoanalytics. Students choose a topic from a range of suggestions in consultation with the seminar instructors. In addition to their own seminar topic, they are also able to evaluate the potential of the techniques presented by their peers.
