Learning Outcomes
Competences
Upon successful completion of the course, students are able to independently perform and document measurements of fundamental physical quantities (length, time, voltage, current). They are able to estimate and assess the associated uncertainties of physical quantities.
Skills Knowledge
Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to

  • represent physical quantities and relationships in text, tables and graphs (k1-k3);
  • calculate and interpret descriptive statistical quantities (k1-k4);
  • analzye measurement series using linear curve fitting (k4);
  • combine measurement uncertainties of individual values/measurements into a total measurement uncertainty (k3/k4);
  • use digital aids (electronic lab book, analysis and visualization software, ...) for the documentation and evaluation of measurements (k1-k4).
During the course, students will acquire knowledge in the following areas and concepts of physics:

  • mechanics, electricity and optics;
  • measurement statistics;
  • laboratory safety.
