By attending the course, students learn to
• develop computational or phenomenological solutions to physical problems in the fields of waves, optics and atomic and molecular physics independently or in a group. (K3)
• transfer concepts and solution approaches to new and unknown problems and select and apply suitable mathematical methods. (K3/K4)
• explain physical problems and concepts as well as mathematical solution processes. (K2)
• calculate their own solutions in front of the group and discuss the solutions. (K3/K4)

During the course, students acquire knowledge in the following areas of physics:
• Waves: oscillations and waves, wave equation, longitudinal waves, transversal waves, electromagnetic waves
• Optics: geometrical optics, wave optics, quantum optics, dualism wave – particle
• Atoms and molecules: Bohr's model, wave functions and orbitals, Periodic Table of the elements
