Learning Outcomes
Competences
The course aims to provide students with a comprehensive overview of omics approaches used in system biology in order to understand and develop our understanding of various (patho)physiological processes and mechanisms occurring in living organisms. The emphasis is also placed on modern analytical techniques and procedures used in clinical and biomedical research to screen and monitor biological systems and to reveal previously unknown molecular players in many diseases, including cancer.
Skills Knowledge
Students know the various techniques used in omics (k1), can explain the principles of various techniques (k2), compare, differentiate and evaluate the differences in various methods (k4, k5), and design a protocol for sample analysis for a specific application (k6). Content of lectures: Week 1: Introduction to omics, Genomics (2h) Week 2: Genomics (2h) Week 3: Transcriptomics (2h) Week 4-6: Proteomics (6h) Week 7-8: Lipidomics (4h) Week 9: Metabolomics (2h) Week 10: Reserve
