Kompetenzen
(*)Students completing the course will possess a strong understanding of safety principles in the chemical laboratory and demonstrate their ability to implement them effectively. They will develop the skills to independently plan and execute laboratory experiments based on general guidelines. Additionally, students will be proficient in documenting and interpreting experimental results accurately, ensuring the proper presentation and documentation of their findings. This competence ensures they are well-prepared for practical laboratory work and the critical analysis required in professional scientific settings.
Fertigkeiten Kenntnisse
(*)• independently draw up a schedule for the laboratory work based on the experiments to be carried out (k5) • know frequently used chemicals and their potential hazards (k1,k2) • prepare (k1-k2) and carry out (k3) experiments based on given experimental instructions, document the results properly (k3) and interpret them (k1,k2,k4) • carry out various separation procedures and simple analysis methods independently and safely (k3,k4) • be able to carry out basic calculations relevant to laboratory work (k3) (*)• laboratory safety • proper disposal of small quantities of chemical waste • basic laboratory equipment • basics of chemical calculation: different types of concentrations, dilutions, weights, yield, pH values • theoretical principles: acids and bases, buffers, qualitative analysis, redox reactions, chemical equilibria, complexes, fermentation • analysis techniques: refractive index, melting point, density determination • working techniques: pipetting/measuring, weighing, preparing solutions, various filtrations, distillation, extraction, centrifugation, synthesis, flame test, spot analysis, test tube experiments • writing a laboratory journal and protocols
