Kompetenzen
(*)Students completing the course will have the ability to perform standard calculations essential for chemical laboratory work. They will be adept at setting up reaction equations and solving both simple and coupled chemical equilibria. Furthermore, students will develop the capacity to simplify complex problems, critically evaluating the assumptions and simplifications made during the process. These skills will enable them to approach chemical problems analytically and execute calculations accurately in a professional laboratory context.
Fertigkeiten Kenntnisse
(*)Students completing the course • are able to correctly convert units into each other (k3) • are able to set up and balance various types of chemical equations (including combustion, solubilities, acid dissociations, base protonations, redox equations and half-equations, etc.) (k3) • are able to convert various concentration data into each other (k3) • are able to carry out calculations relevant to chemical laboratory work (including density, dilutions, yield, conversion, etc.) using various examples and with different questions (k3) • are able to set up the corresponding terms for the equilibrium constant for reactions and calculate equilibrium concentrations - both for simple and coupled equilibria (k3, k6) • are able to analyze and simplify more complex problems (k3,k4,k6) and evaluate the simplifications made (k5) (*)• Physical quantities and units • Molar mass, various types of concentrations, density • Ideal gas equation, gas equilibria • Combustion analyses, elementary analyses • Balancing chemical equations • Oxidation numbers and redox reactions • Yield and conversion • Solubility equilibria • Acids and bases, autoprotolysis, buffers, pH value • Coupled equilibria
