Learning Outcomes |
Competences |
The courses KV Introduction to Physics for Chemistry, VL Physics for Chemistry, and UE Exercises in Physics for Chemistry form an integrated didactic unit, where the learning outcomes are achieved through combined and concurrent participation in all three courses.
The course in Introduction to Physics for Chemistry aims to equip students with a basic understanding of physics in the field of mechanics, enabling them to
• define terms in physics such as mass, force, potential, work, energy and momentum, and differentiate them from colloquial terms.
• explain physical laws such as the conservation of momentum and energy and apply them to simple problems in mechanics related to aspects encountered in chemistry.

Skills |
Knowledge |
By attending the course, students learn to
• explain basic physical phenomena and principles in the field of. (k2)
• apply physical and mathematical concepts to solve given problems in the respective thematical field. (k3)
• analyze and transfer concepts and solution approaches to new and unknown problems and select and apply suitable mathematical formulations. (k3, k4)
|
During the courses, students acquire knowledge in the following areas of physics:
General:
•Physical quantities, units
Mechanics:
• Motion of particles and bodies (kinematics)
• Forces and Newton’s laws (dynamics)
• Momentum and conservation of momentum
• Potential, energy, conservation of energy
• Center of mass
• Rotational motion
