Learning Outcomes |
Competences |
The students acquire the competence to carry out basic engineering analyses. They are able to simplify chemical processes and calculate key parameters (e.g. residence time, mass flows, energy flows). They can model processes and calculate the effects of changes in process variables on the conversion in a simplified manner.

Skills |
Knowledge |
The students know and understand (k1 & k2) the concept of the ideal reactors: batch reactor, semi-batch reactor, continuous stirred-tank reactor, plug flow reactor. They can apply the mass balance, component balance and energy balance (k3). The students can analyze complex systems (e.g. processes with recycling streams) and solve them (k4). Also, the students can determine relevant reactions (key reactions, key components) and separate them from irrelevant (side reactions, side components)(k5).
