Knowledge |
More specifically, upon completion of the course, they will be able to:
• Identify organic molecules using GC-MS (k2, k3, k4, k5)
• Quantify analytes using chromatography (k2, k3, k4, k5)
• Quantify analytes using capillary electrophoresis (k2, k3, k4, k5)
• Quantify metal ions and organic compounds using spectroscopy (k2, k3, k4, k5)
• Report their results in a protocol in a scientific writing style (k4, k5)
|
The course is divided into seven consecutive sections with the following experiments:
• Determination of artificial sweeteners by capillary electrophoresis (CE)
• Determination of main components of herbs and spices by GC-MS
• Ion chromatographic determination of anions in drinking water
• Quantitation of ingredients of commercially available pharmaceutical formulations by HPLC
• Determination of Calcium in mineral water by AAS
• Bradford Assay - Total protein concentration
• Quantitation of quinine by fluorescence spectroscopy
