Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to recognize connections between fundamental rights and democratic mechanisms on the one hand and the digital society on the other hand. They are able to answer legal questions relating to these areas.
Skills Knowledge
  • identify and discuss challenges and dangers in the interaction of fundamental rights with democratic mechanisms or digital society (e.g. fake news, manipulation of elections, "privatization" of law or social control by private individuals; "transparent citizen - surveillance state") (k4, k5)
  • analyze and discuss specific case studies and formulate legally sound answers to questions in this context (k5, k6)
  • distinguish between ethical and (fundamental) legal issues and establish mutual references (k4)
  • in-depth study of selected fundamental rights (e.g. freedom of expression, data protection, respect for private life, freedom to earn a living)
  • (fundamental) legal control of the transformation process - transformation of the protection of fundamental rights
  • in-depth examination of the concepts of the rule of law and democracy
  • current fundamental and criminal law challenges for the rule of law and democracy in the digital society (e.g. fake news, manipulation of elections, "privatization" of the law or social control by private individuals; "transparent citizen - surveillance state")
