Learning Outcomes

The students deal with current issues and challenges in strategic and international management. In doing so, they become familiar with basic theories and models in strategic and international management and learn important management tools and methods. The focus is also on cultural aspects of international management. They are able to examine strategic and international topics along the strategy process. In addition, the students can transfer theoretical knowledge into practice. This course promotes active participation and cooperative learning in face-to-face or online format.

LO1: Students can apply basic theories and models in strategic and international management. They are able to analyze and evaluate strategic and international topics along the strategy process in companies or organizations.
LO 2: Students can use methods of strategic and international management to analyze existing companies or business areas.
LO 3: Students are able to carry out market and company analyses and derive strategic options from them.
LO 4: Students are able to examine challenges of international management and derive and discuss recommendations for action.
LO 5: Students can evaluate strategic options and discuss their possible effects. They are able to make strategic decisions and explain them with reference to the literature.
  1. Students know and understand basic theories and models in strategic and international management as well as important management tools and methods.
  2. Students discuss strategic and international topics along the strategy process.

  5. Students can transfer theoretical knowledge into practice using case studies.

Learning Outcomes

LO 6: Students combine and evaluate the concepts, models and methods from strategic and international management.
LO 7: Students know the basic models and methods of strategic and international management including the implementation and evaluation phases.
Criteria for evaluation Assessment criteria for courses in German Individual open-book Moodle exam with real case studies in individual work lasting 90 minutes on the contents of the KS (max. 120 points). Minimum requirement: 50% of the total points.
It is possible to repeat this exam as part of a re-examination.
Feedback: Constructive feedback on the case studies discussed in the course and in writing on each individual examination performance.
LO1-LO7: Examination or re-examination

Assessment criteria for courses in English A maximum of 100 points can be achieved in total. Minimum requirement: 60% of the total points.
The performance characteristics include a seminar paper with a practical example (max. 50 points) and homework and exams (max. 50 points).
It is possible to replace these achievements with a re-examination.
Feedback: Constructive feedback on the case studies discussed in the course and in writing on each individual examination performance.

Methods To achieve the teaching and learning objectives, different methods are used in the interactive teaching format:

  • Teacher-centered information input, supported by slides and literature
  • Self-directed learning with the help of given literature and materials
  • Impulse(s) from experts on selected topics
  • Application of methods and models based on real case studies
  • Plenary discussions and interactive group exercises
