  • LO1: Students are able to analyze strategic issues from different perspectives, select suitable perspectives for strategy work, apply adequate strategy tools on a case-specific basis and critically reflect on the results.

  • LO2: Students can select suitable strategic management perspectives for case-related strategy work and critically examine their advantages and disadvantages.
  • LO3: Students are able to select and use suitable market and company analyses in a well-founded manner in order to develop strategic options, evaluate them critically, select suitable strategies and plan their implementation.
  • LO4: Students are able to use strategy tools along the entire strategy process and critically evaluate their requirements, advantages and disadvantages in practical application.
  • LO5: Students can argue for and against strategic decisions with reference to the literature.
Learning Outcomes

  • LO6: Students understand the specifics of central perspectives of strategic management, their concepts, methods, possible applications and challenges.
  • LO7: Students know the basic perspectives, models and methods of strategic management along the entire strategy process.
Criteria for evaluation A total of 150 points can be achieved in this course.

  • Research paper (individual work) on specific content (max. 50 points)
  • Graphic presentation (individual work) of the contents of the research paper (max. 25 points)
  • Written exam (group work) on the underlying content of the course (max. 50 points)
  • Reflection (group work) on the course and on teamwork (max. 25 points)

It is possible to repeat the written exam as part of a follow-up exam (individual work).

Minimum requirement: 50 % of the total points

Feedback: Constructive feedback on the case studies discussed in the course and in writing on each individual examination performance.

  • LO1-LO5: Written exam, reflection, research paper

Methods Various methods are used in the interactive teaching format to achieve the teaching and learning objectives:

  • Teacher-centered information input, supported by slides and literature
  • Self-directed learning with the help of specified literature and materials
  • Impulse(s) from external experts on selected topics
  • Application of methods and models using real case studies in groups
  • Plenary discussions and interactive group exercises
